Colombia
If you’re eager to explore the Caribbean, Colombia is the perfect place for you, with three Caribbean destinations to choose from. The island of San Andres lies in the midst of the stunning “sea of seven colors,” as the Caribbean is known locally. Situated some distance from the Colombian mainland, it’s the largest of three islands in an archipelago with numerous cays and miles of beaches. Two of the best-known beaches on San Andres are Spratt Bight, which is located in an area of the island that hums with activity, and the coral reef-encircled Cocoplum, which is considerably more tranquil.
If you prefer the hustle and bustle of a city, Barranquilla and Cartagena are wonderful destinations too, whether you’re planning a romantic getaway or a relaxing vacation with friends and family. Barranquilla is known as Colombia’s “Golden Gate,” offering easy access to the fun-filled beaches located just a short distance outside the city. Two of them, Salgar and Puerto Colombia, are less than half an hour’s drive away. Cartagena, meanwhile, is renowned for the beautiful beaches that surround the city. The peaceful Boquilla beach has a well-deserved reputation for being clean and safe, and the Rosario Islands are an ideal spot for snorkeling and dolphin watching.
